The data presented here are for the major publicly-traded shipbuilding companies. They are derived from SEC filings or the overseas equivalent, from annual reports and from the companies' web sites.
The Three Major Japanese Shipbuilding Companies:
Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI), since 1996 - updated, June 7, 2007.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), since 1996 - updated, June 7, 2007.
Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (MES), since 1996 - updated, June 7, 2007.
(The tables for Hitachi, IHI, NKK and Sumitomo have been abandoned: these companies have spun off their much-reduced shipbuilding operations and the figures no longer have any significance.)
Note that the Japanese fiscal year ends on March 31, i.e., annual reports for 2005 cover the period from April 1, 2004 through March 31, 2005.
