US-Flag Crude Carriers

The US-flag domestic trade in crude oil is now carried by only 11 ships, with a total capacity of about 1.7 million deadweight tons, as shown below.  All these ships are double-hulled.  Since the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA 90) was enacted, 50 crude carriers have been withdrawn from the trade: to see a table listing them, click here.
