U.S. Shipbuilding Activity, 1990 through 2009                       Most recent update: January 30, 2010.

The tables below summarize U.S. shipbuilding deliveries over the past two decades, as reported in the U.S. Coast Guard's PSIX database.  The figures have been edited a little, to add the first four rows, to remove duplications and foreign-built vessels, and to correct a few misclassifications, but this process is not perfect.  Note that most crew boats are categorized as passenger vessels, not as offshore service vessels.  The "passenger vessels" category also includes very large numbers of very small boats.  The "all other vessels" category includes a wide variety of odds and ends, some of which may not be self-propelled.  Finally, there are many small vessels built for a multitude of federal, state and local government agencies that are not included in these statistics, because they do not have to be registered with the Coast Guard.
