The Nichols boatyard was established by Frank Nichols in Seattle in 1964, but moved almost immediately to Freeland WA, where it is today.  It was originally called Nichols & Downing Boat Works and then Nichols & Drake Boat Works, becoming Nichols Bros. Boatbuilders in 1972, when Nichols sold the business to his sons, Matt and Archie.  The company closed in 2007, as a result of a contract dispute, but sold its assets to Ice Floe LLC and reopened in 2008.  Visit the shipyard at www.nicholsboats.com and see it from the air on Google here.
