WILLIAM ROGERS & SON

Bath, ME

Most recent update: December 21, 2020.

William Rogers was born in Bath in 1824 and worked in the lumber industry before expanding into shipbuilding in 1845.  The yard is said to have been where the southern end of Bath Iron Works is now but I'm not sure of this.  Rogers died in 1869 and his son, also named William, took over, operating the yard until 1903, when he sold it to Staples Coal.  In total, Rogers built 100 ships, as listed below.  If anyone sees any errors or omissions, please send your info to timcolton@aol.com
