Yard Tugs (YT, YTB, YTM, YTL)

After WWII, the Navy had many more yard tugs than it needed, so it was not until the 1960s that it built any new ones.  There was some initial confusion in the post-war numbering system, but basically post-war construction consisted of a series of 87 boats of a new standard design, with numbers from YTB 752 through 838.  In 2007, the Navy suddenly abandoned the old series of numbers and started a new one at YT 800, reacquiring two YTBs that had been sold and renumbering them YT 800 and 801 to get it rolling.  If anyone can add to or otherwise improve the accuracy of this table, please send your info to timcolton@aol.com
