Landing Ships, Medium - LSM and LSM(R)

WWII Construction

A total of 558 Landing Ships, Medium, or LSMs, and Landing Ships, Medium (Rocket), or LSM(R)s, were built by 7 shipyards.  The basic LSM design - originally designated the LCT(7) - was 203.5 feet in length overall and 520 tons in light displacement: LSM(R)s 188 thru 199, which were converted LSMs, were the same length but 605 tons, while the remaining LSM(R)s were 106.25 feet and 850 tons.  Little is known about the disposition of these boats: any information will be welcomed.
