Palmer Johnson Yachts, Sturgeon Bay WI
(formerly Sturgeon Bay Boat Works)
Sturgeon Bay Boat Works was established in 1918 as Johnson and Gmack, to build fishing vessels. Hans Johnson's son Palmer took over after World War One and changed the name to Sturgeon Bay Boat Works. Palmer Johnson retired in 1959 and sold the business: the new owners renamed it Palmer Johnson and it continues today as a well-known builder of megayachts. Visit the company at www.palmerjohnson.com. The yard is located on Kentucky Street, between 1st and 2nd Avenues: you can see it from the air on Google here. The table below is a work in progress: if anyone can fill any of the gaps, please e-mail me at tim@coltoncompany.com.
