Julius Petersen Inc., Upper Nyack NY

Most recent update: July 17, 2011.

The Julius Petersen shipyard was founded as the Van Houten Boatyard in the 1890s.   In about 1907 it was acquired by Julius Petersen, a Danish immigrant who had previously built boats on Staten Island and in Tarrytown.  The company is still operating as a boatyard, although it stopped building boats after Petersen died in 1949: visit it at www.juliuspetersen.com.  See it from the air on Google here.
