Halter Marine, Inc., Pascagoula MS

(formerly Chicago Bridge & Iron)

Halter Pascagoula was originally owned and operated by Chicago Bridge & Iron, which built drilling rigs and offshore platforms there.  It was bought by Trinity Industries in 1995 and a plan for its development as a shipbuilding facility for deep-draft cargo ships was developed for Trinity by IHI.  It was spun off by Trinity as part of Halter Marine Group in 1996 and the development plan was only partly implemented.  In July 2002, it was one of the six remaining Halter shipyards that were acquired by Singapore Technologies from the bankruptcy of Friede Goldman Halter.  Visit the new company at www.vthm.com.
