(Later Halter Equitable, now Trinity Yachts)

Equitable Shipyards was founded by Neville Levy in 1921 as the Equitable Equipment Company, in Madisonville LA.  It shifted its operations in 1966/67 to the former main Higgins Industries yard in New Orleans, located on the Industrial Canal, just north of the "high-rise" (I-10) bridge.  This yard was acquired by Halter Marine in 1985 and converted to aluminum boatbuilding.  It was spun off by Trinity Industries as part of Halter Marine Group in 1996, but was closed in 2000 and stripped of all its equipment.  The lease on the property was later sold to an investment group led by John Dane, together with Trinity Yachts, which was, at that time, wholly enclosed within the Equitable site.  See the yard from the air on Google here.  See also the table for the original Equitable Equipment yard in Madisonville.  If anyone can add to the table below, please send your data to timcolton@aol.com
