United States Marine, Inc., Gulfport MS

United States Marine was founded in 1971 and for its first 16 years built racing sailboats.  In 1987, however, it began building high-speed patrol craft, initially in an association with Halter Marine - Equitable Shipyards, but later on its own.  Its yard in East New Orleans was destroyed by Katrina and the company relocated to Gulfport MS, to a facility on the Industrial Seaway, immediately west of the Lorraine Road bridge.  It has since leased additional space from Trinity Yachts, both in their Gulfport shipyard - the former Halter-Gulfport - and in their New Orleans shipyard the former Halter-Equitable - and has recently subcontracted work to Trinity Yachts.  Visit the shipyard at www.usmi.com and see it from the air on Google here.
