Equitable Equipment Company, Madisonville LA
(now Trinity Marine Products)
This yard was founded in 1921. It shifted its operations in the mid-60s to the former Higgins Industries yard in New Orleans and the Madisonville yard was idle until Equitable was acquired by Trinity Industries in 1989 and it was then converted to inland barge construction, in which field it is still active. The Madisonville yard was retained by Trinity when the New Orleans yard was spun off as part of Halter Marine Group in 1996. Located on the Tchefuncte River, which feeds into Lake Pontchartrain, you can see the yard from the air on Google here.
