Great Lakes Shipyard, Cleveland OH

Great Lakes Shipyard is a division of the Great Lakes Group, the largest towing company on the Great Lakes.  It was originally established in 1899, on the Cuyahoga River, at the foot of the Jefferson Bridge.  When that yard burnt in 1952, it took over a part of the former AmShip Cleveland yard, on the Old River, where it continues in business today, primarily as a maintenance facility, but in 2007 it started to build new vessels again, for the first time since 1931.  Visit it at www.thegreatlakesgroup.com and see it from the air on Google here.
