Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Panama City FL

Eastern Marine was established in 1976 and was a successful builder of fishing vessels and supply boats.  It struggled in the downturn of the mid-80s and folded in 1988.  A new company, Eastern Shipyards, emerged soon after, but over-reached with a contract to build two sulfur carriers and folded in 1992.  The Allanton Road facility was then bought by Trinity Marine, which mothballed it until 1997, when it was spun off as part of Halter Marine Group.  Halter reopened it to build supply boats but closed it again in 1999, after building only two boats.  Meanwhile, Eastern Shipbuilding Group had returned to shipbuilding at the Nelson Street shipyard in 1997 and bought the Allanton Road shipyard from Friede Goldman Halter in 2000.

Eastern's hull numbers are not sequential because they use a single series for all types of contract.
