Odenbach Shipbuilding, Rochester NY
Odenbach Shipbuilding was developed for the war effort. It was located on the west side of the northern end of Dewey Avenue, in the section of Rochester known as Greece. Ships were launched into Round Pond and maneuvered out to Lake Ontario. After the war, the shipyard was turned over to the Air Force and was used to fabricate parts for B-52 bombers. It is now abandoned and a notoriously polluted site. See it from the air on Google here. If anyone can provide any more information about either the yard or the ships it built, please e-mail it to me at tim@coltoncompany.com.
