Federal Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Company, Port Newark NJ

Federal Shipbuilding developed a second shipyard for the war effort, with $20mm from the Navy.  It was closed and liquidated after the war.  The shipyard was the former Submarine Boat Company's facility, a major builder of standard-design cargo ships in WWI, located where the automobile terminal just south of the I-78 New Jersey Turnpike Extension is now.  See it from the air on Google here.  And see some great pictures of the Federal yard on www.destroyerhistory.org
