Delta Shipbuilding Company, New Orleans LA

Delta Shipbuilding was one of the original nine emergency yards, built in 1941 with 6 ways, with $13mm from the USMC.  It was managed by the American Ship Building Company.  Its 6 ways were increased to 8 in the third wave of shipbuilding expansion.  The shipyard was closed after the war: its site is on the west bank of the Industrial Canal in New Orleans, just south of the I-10 bridge and across from Alexander's shipyard: read an article in Marine Log about it here and see it from the air on Google here.  Little more is known about this yard.  If anyone can provide any information about this yard, please e-mail tim@coltoncompany.com.
