Chicago Bridge & Iron Company, Seneca IL

Chicago Bridge & Iron was founded in 1867 and is now a public company with worldwide operations and headquarters in the Netherlands.   The Navy requisitioned the Chicago Bridge facility in Seneca IL in 1942 and invested $6mm in its improvement.  Known as the Prairie Shipyard, it was located on a 200-acre site on the east side of the town.  You can see it clearly from the air on Google here.  After the war it was used for multiple purposes and is now, apparently, a Union Mechling facility.
