Lockheed Shipbuilding & Construction Co., Seattle WA
(formerly Puget Sound Bridge & Dredging Company)
Puget Sound Bridge & Dredging was founded in 1898 but was primarily a civil construction contractor. It built wooden cargo ships for the USSB during WWI and minesweepers for the Navy during WWII. It was acquired by Lockheed Corporation in 1959 and renamed Lockheed Shipbuilding in 1965, but closed in 1987. Lockheed's two shipyards on Harbor Island were sold to the Port of Seattle and converted to cargo terminal space. See the shipyard site from the air on Google here.
