Most recent update: October 3, 2011.

Cleveland Shipbuilding was started in 1886 by Henry Coffinberry and Robert Wallace on the site of the Cuyahoga Steam Furnace Company, which was roughly where Detroit Avenue meets Center Street.  In 1897, they built a new shipyard in Lorain and relocated there, closing the Cleveland yard.
