Signal International, Orange TX

Most recent update: August 9, 2011.

Signal International was created in 2002, when its owners bought the assets of Friede Goldman Offshore out of the bankruptcy of Friede Goldman Halter.  These assets consisted of two shipyards in Pascagoula MS, which had previously been operated by Friede Goldman International, (formerly known as Ham Marine), and six shipyards in Orange, Port Arthur and Sabine Pass TX, which had previously been operated by TDI-Halter, (formerly Texas Drydock).  Signal's primary new construction shipyard is in Orange TX: this is the former WWII destroyer builder, Consolidated Steel, which was later operated as a fabrication yard by American Bridge and briefly by Trinity Marine  Visit the company at www.signalint.com and see an aerial view on Google of the Orange yard here.  In January 2010, Signal bought most of the assets of Bender Shipbuilding and created Signal Ship Repair, but took Bender out of the new construction market.
