Marinette Marine was established in 1942 as a builder of wooden barges.  After the war, it grew into being a relatively sophisticated builder of small ships and boats.  It was privately held until Manitowoc Corp. bought it in 1999.  Visit the shipyard at www.manitowocmarine.com/Facilities/MarinetteMarine.asp.  You could see the shipyard from the air on Google here, except that the picture is hopelessly blurred.
