U.S. Navy Ships and Submarines

The first 22 tables in this section document all the large, oceangoing, self-propelled ships and submarines built for the U.S. Navy in the 20th century, listed by pennant number.  A few of the ships listed were built in the 19th century and assigned pennant numbers later.

The final 5 tables list those ships built, acquired or captured in the 18th and 19th centuries, before pennant numbers were introduced.

The date of each table's most recent update is shown in the right-hand column.
